Crazy phobia of drains?
I have a severe phobia of drains that goes beyond the typical fear of pool drains. I am afraid of all types of drains: sink drains, bathtub drains, toilet drains, shower drains, pool drains, and even street drains. For instance, if I'm in the bathtub and the drain makes an unusual noise or I accidentally touch it with my foot, I feel compelled to get out immediately. When soap bubbles cover the drain, I have to clear them away. I constantly keep the drain in sight while I'm in the tub, as I have an intense fear of something emerging from it—whether it be a dead rat, blood, a snake, or even a hand trying to pull me in. The thought of these scenarios makes me feel queasy, and I struggle to get close to any drain, even in the kitchen sink. This fear has affected my daily life to the point where I can't wash dishes; I have to rely on my mom to do them for me. Additionally, certain smoke detectors unsettle me because they remind me too much of pool drains. I've had this phobia since I was a baby, and I can't identify any specific reason for it. Is this fear normal?

Your fear seems to be related to the common fear of the unknown, which is the source of things like fear of the dark. I would not say this is normal, not to this extent, but some fear of the unknown is to be expected in most people. Hell, I'd be concerned if you weren't afraid of anything more than that you are afraid of drains.
I would recommend that you familiarize yourself with what is actually inside these drains, so you know more about them. For example, knowing that there's usually a kind of grate on bathtub drains (fine enough to prevent things like rats getting through) helps a lot. Also, try to get used to touching them, or being near drains. Yes, you can't keep avoiding them, that will make it worse. This is going to sound creepy and strange, but spend more time near drains. Even setting your computer's desktop background to a picture of a small drain might help!
I would say it is not normal. Usually something tramatic involving the drains would have to happen for you to develope the phobia. But honestly, how about stick your hand in the drain and grow up. Face your fear and it will go away.
I used to have this same exact thing ! Only in tubs, but once I got older stopped caring about it. And I never took baths , just showers.
