Does Walmart have undercover security and is this what I encountered?
Tonight, I went to my local Walmart. Admittedly, I'm more of a Target person, but I made an exception this time. To provide some background, my dad is a police officer, my mom works for the city, and I’m 17 years old, working as a host at Stone Creek Dining Company. I want to clarify that I am not a thief and do not associate with a questionable crowd.
While I was in the men’s pajama section, I noticed a man in his mid-20s wearing torn jeans and a black cap. He was pacing back and forth, staring at me while pretending to be on his phone. This made me feel uncomfortable, so I decided to walk away. However, when I went to check out, I noticed him following me, and he was being quite obvious about it. Feeling anxious, I put down my items and tried to leave the store. To my shock, he rushed toward the exit!
In a panic, I attempted to make my way to another exit, hoping to lose him, but he mirrored my movements along the other side of the cash registers. It was unsettling! I approached a woman at the jewelry counter and informed her that a man was following me. She asked for a description, and that’s when I saw the man run up to the opposite side of the counter. I was terrified. I told her he was right behind her, but she seemed unsure of how to help. Discreetly, I called 911 while heading towards the customer service desk to find a manager, and the man continued to trail me.
After reporting the situation to a large employee, I pointed out my follower, only to be told that he was store security. I felt relieved at first and hung up with the dispatcher after apologizing for the misunderstanding. However, when I tried to address the "security officer" and express my concerns about the panic he caused, he started to run away. I chased him to the main aisle in front of the cash registers and confronted him, explaining that I had called 911 because I believed he was about to mug me. He simply responded, "Oh, I wasn’t follo

Wal Mart has what is called Loss Prevention. Their purpose is not physical security, their job is to apprehend shoplifters.
You can file a complaint with the store manager or with corporate headquarters here:

It is unlikely that the manager would make such a claim due to the liability involved in ‘covering up’ for a stalker in the store. If store security was following you around photographing you, it probably means that for some reason they suspected you of theft; however, the fact that they chose not to detain you or make any mention of it probably means they decided either they were flat wrong or that they didn’t have enough proof. Again, though, I seriously doubt that there is any reason for the manager to lie about such a thing. Everyone knows that creepy people can be anywhere; it really wouldn’t reflect on the store at all if someone strange was arrested, so there is nothing for them to gain from hiding something like that. On the other hand, if they ‘cover up’ for such a person and that person goes on to molest someone or kidnap some child from the store, they would lose millions in court (and the manager would certainly be fired).
Well, I know when I worked at Walmart they had undercover security. Granted, this was a little over 7 years ago. But they did have a security guy in street clothes. He was a bad **** too…but yeah, they have them.
Yes they do! In almost every 24 hour walmart challenge, there is some guy who follows them around! I don’t think that there are that many stalkers around, so they are most likely security.
Hmm..
Yeah, they do. Sometimes you can hear them doing drills if you’re there late at night or early in the morning. Saying "Security check cameras d through h in the clothing department" or something like that.
Calling the store manager, or even emailing or calling the main walmart rep. could aid you.
Why would you be in a panic because some bum looking guy is following you? If he puts his hands on you drop him like a hot potato in self defense.

Yes they do. My girlfriend worked at a Walmart for almost 3 years when we were in college, and she said that they always have 2 undercover security guards in street clothes who walk around looking for shop lifters or people who have been previously banned from the store.
