Homework eh?

Examples of Bill of rights in action:

1)Freedom of speech which prevents the Government for interfering with the New, books, libraries, the internet, and what you are doing right now here on yahoo answers.

2)My right to own a gun

3)The right to a trial, to be given a jury of my pears, and be assigned a lawyer even if i can afford one myself.

What is the need for the bill of rights

“Tyranny of the majority is still tyranny” – John Locke.

The bill of rights established in print some basic requirements that the general public would need in order to prevent the government from becoming totalitarian. The basic idea being that if a group of people voted as a block they could easily oppress the rest in a democratic society. The bill of rights allows the minority group to fight back.

Examples: Freedom of speech guaranteeing they minority can always speak out against their oppression

Right to bear arms: so they can protect themselves from a totalitarian government.

Right to due process: so the police/government can just make people disappear in the middle of the night never to be heard of again.

What are three amendments of the bill of rights you would consider critical to the freedom on individual citizens:

All are critical but if i had to pick 3 i would say

Freedom of speech – so people are always free to speak out against that which is wrong.

Due Process – so law officials cannot simply lock you up without telling you what you did and let you rot for days, weeks, months, even years as you wait for trial.

Powers of the state and people (10th amendment), those powers not given to the federal govt are to be given to the state and those not claimed by the state belong to the city. The rest are powers of the people. This prevents the votes of people outside you city, or state from forcing rules that over ride those you voted on yourself. This prevents large stats like CA, TX, FL, NY, ect… from passing Federal laws that over ride the laws of little ML or RH

They have no right to concoct such a bill. They have no right to create a study of such an unConstitutional idea. Just who would decide exactly what is “Violent Radicalization.”? Just what is Homegrown Terrorism? We already have laws against blowing up buildings, etc., so why is anything else needed? This type of bill, whether passed or not, is an abomination. It proves that someone, somewhere in government, is having ideas of stifling freedom, curtailing liberty and making a mockery of our Constitution. There comes a time when Americans had better sit up and take notice. The Patriot Act should be repealed. Bills like this should be tagged and whoever is dreaming them up should let his feelings be known, so that his constituents can make sure he or she loses the legislative seat. We have sat idly by and allowed these inequities to become the norm. I notice that many posters here shrug, claim exaggeration, etc. Like the Germans who just failed to see the cattle cars stuffed with human beings chugging by, Americans had better wake up. If that is an “extremist belief system,” so be it!

All these deceptive violation of a system will keep on coming on as long as people allow it to come. The slower people react against this, the harder it will become to stop it. When Hitler started to gain popularity to put his wicked system in place in the 30’s, a few Germans were bright enough to recognize what was going to happen. But the vast majority reacted the very same way most US citizens react today, telling them they were crazy, overreacting and creating false alarms. The concentration camps were known facts only a few year after the war. It sad that people associate a full thrust in politicians and thrust them enough to let then totally decide on their future and their childrens future. It sad to see a high percentages of US population seeing anti-Americanism in people only fighting for their freedom and liberties. I am personally American, was born in America (Canada), always fight for my liberties when any attempt to cheat them is made by my government, and anyone should see it as true Americanism. I avoid the US right now, I truly think it is going too far right now, while I like you guys and have lots of friends all over the US, I believe the USA are at the present time leaving America, just like Venezuela and Bolivia, to replace it by a very bad government. I pray God to help you and make people open their eyes and show some true Americanism and fight to keep what was so hard to gain at first. Hopefully, the US will come back to America and show the example to everyone as to how “We the People” still prevails.
