Found mice droppings on bed…should I get a new bed?

My room is in the basement and we had some issues with leaks so I left for a while. My bed has been in that basement for over 2 months and there were mice droppings all over it. It had sheets and stuff on it, but I’m still uncomfortable with the idea that these mice went to the bathroom all over my bed. Should I get a new bed? And do I need to replace my bedding or just wash it? I don’t really want to even touch it. The worst part is that the bed was new! I also had a lot of other furniture and blankets and such I left behind and I’m not sure what to do with it all. I read things about mice droppings potentially being fatal and now I’m completely freaked out!

First: find and rid house of mice.

Remove all sheets from your bed and covers- hot water launder them…that will get rid of all urine.

Examine your mattress- vacuum it. Clean your whole room really well.

If there is urine remnants- use a disinfectant spray. I have used a spray formula for upholstery cleaning and it did the trick. Do not saturate it. Re vacuum it.

Purchase a matress cover that fully wraps that mattress and a second for the box spring.

You are now sterile and will not get bed bugs either.

I used to have gerbils and that is the same thing really…their pee is not like huge amounts…so stop freaking…just clean!

No, Clean the mattress REALLY well, Your bigger problem is finding the mouse, Invest in some mouse traps and cheese and lay them around where you wont walk on them but so the mouse can find them, Under chairs/tables etc. And let nature run its course.

The mouse urine will be in the mattress. The mattress needs to be replaced.

The bedding can be washed with bleach in the water. The bedding put in a container with a lid on it will protect it from the mice. It would be better to get new sheets

A mattress cover would be good to put on the new mattress.

Some traps with cheese or peanut butter on them will trap the mice.

The smell of the urine will come through a sheet..

I’d also use lysol and scrub the mattress and springs with it and then air the bedding out. Mice can carry several dangerous diseases that are transmittable to humans, including also, lice and fleas.
