Help. What is “remittance advice”?

The university I used to attend has sent me a form saying “remittance advice” and what looks like a check at the bottom. But the rest of the form looks like a bill.Do i owe them money? or are they sending me money?

A remittance advice is a payment of money to you. The bottom portion that looks like a bill is for your records and should indicate what the remittance to you is for. You probably over paid for something, or dropped out early enough to get a credit for some of your advance payment towards fees. I wish you had said what the amount was, but take it to your bank and they will process it and credit your bank account. Isn’t it nice to sorta find money.... Show More

A Remittance Advice is just a detail/breakdown of the payment, like a statement but usually with money enclosed. Enjoy! And bank the cheque!... Show More

Its a slip that usually comes with a payment of cheque or notification that it has been paid into your bank account. That bottom bit is a cheque. You have probably overpaid somewhere along the lines. Just tear it off and bank it as a usual cheque.... Show More

A payment slip.You use one to pay money into an account. Present that at your bank and they will credit your account with that amount.... Show More

They are sending you money, its their proof that they have paid the invoice... Show More
