how can i talk without showing my teeth?
I really dislike my teeth. When I lived with my dad, he never seemed to care much about me; he didn’t pay for me to go to the dentist or anything. I need braces more than anything, and now that I live with my mom, she’s trying to get them for me. Now that I’m in 9th grade, my teeth are just... I don’t even know how to describe it, but I hate them so much. I’m starting a new school since I moved, and I feel very self-conscious about my teeth. I don’t really talk to anyone here because I’m afraid that once they see my teeth, they’ll judge me differently.
I like the way I look and have even been asked out a few times this year, but I couldn’t say yes, even to this one guy I really liked. I feel like my teeth are a huge turn-off, and once we start talking, he’ll notice them and think, “What’s going on?” As you can probably tell, my teeth are ruining my 9th-grade year. Once I get braces, it will help hide them even before they’re straightened out, and they will look a lot better. Is there any way I can still have a social life and hide my teeth until I’m able to get braces?

Learn to relax your mouth mainly your upper lip when you talk. Don’t try to hard to hide it or it will just draw attention to it. do you have a smaller lip? unfortuanentally with out seeing how your face is proportioned it is kind of hard to give advice. But I think you’ll make it through with out to many scars good luck I know how hard it can be.
By just talking you will show your teeth to some degree. Laughing may show your teeth even more. My opinion on this would not to be stop talking or laughing, but to be yourself.
I think that you are more self ware of your teeth then anyone else would be. Really how often do you look at people teeth when they are talking to you? Do you sit around judging people on what may be their flaws? I do not think you are being fair to your school mates. Your not a horse no one is going to check out your teeth.
I can understand if you had rotten teeth or bad breath those things may draw more attention. Mainly because some people feel that would be something you can control by having good oral hygiene.
People can not control crooked teeth and as you know not everyone can afford braces. I think for the most part people understand this and do not make crooked teeth such a issue.
Anyone that would be mean about your teeth would not be worth worrying about anyway. Enjoy your ninth grade. If you do not make a big deal about your teeth others will not either.
Get braces when you or your mom can afford them. But don’t make having braces a main factor for you to enjoy school.
There, unfortunately, any way to hide your teeth. The very act of speaking requires that you manipulate your lips as well as your mouth. But don’t despair, just think how many times have you noticed other peoples teeth when they talk to you, chances are other people hardly notice your teeth. We are all very much more aware of deficiencies in ourselves and therefore are more self conscious.
If anyone mentions your teeth just tell them that your mom is sorting out braces for you, if they say it in a nasty way the usual reply is “If it bothers you all donations will be greatly received.
It is your body and something you should be proud of, and s-od the world

Ashley, please do not worry so much over your teeth. I know they may be upsetting to you but I really do not think anyone that is worth your time will judge you poorly over not having perfect teeth.
It is not like you are not taking care of your teeth. The problem you have can only be fixed by having braces. Your mom is working on that for you so given time you will be able to get them.
Go out on dates and enjoy your school life. You do not get these years back. I wish I enjoyed high school more. I kind of just let them pass me by, and now I can say that it is just another regret I now have.
You may not believe this but what I will say is true. Your school mates have the same worries and concerns that you do. Maybe not over their teeth but over other things. Such as their hair, weight, glasses, freckles, being to short or too tall. this list can go on and on. Things you may never notice about your friends are the same things that make them just as upset as you are over your teeth.
Just try asking a few people what they dislike about them self and I am sure they will tell you more then just one answer. You may even be like are you crazy I like that about you… Doing this may help you see that your teeth are not as big as a deal to others as they are to you.
Best of wishes to you

Why don’t you and your mother check out this program?

It may help you get to those braces a little bit sooner.
I didn’t get my braces until I was in the tenth grade and I remember feeling similarly to you. In the meantime just try to remember that you are the one who notices your physical ‘flaws’ the most, I bet a lot of the people that you go to school with don’t pay all that much attention to your teeth. And most of all, just be confident in yourself. If people judge you just for your teeth then they really aren’t the people that you should be friends with anyway.

There isnt really a possible way to do it. But if you mumble (I do) your mouth is closed more. If you laugh alot. Just keep your mouth closed more. not wide open. But don’t sweat it. When you get the braces it makes your teeth look WAY better ?

Just food for thought:
Did you ever stop to think that you are the one that is judging your peers badly. You are assuming that because of your bad teeth other people are just going to start judging you poorly when it is you that is doing that to them.
It is very hard for a young man (boy) to ask a girl out on a date. They have all kinds of worry and concerns when they do. You turning them down not because of them, but because of your teeth sucks! I am sure you did not tell them that you will not go out with them because you have bad teeth. So they are left wondering what it was about them the you did not like.
I am sure this in not what you want to do. Get over your teeth issue. It is more an issue for you then anyone brave enough to ask you out. Do not assume poorly of them because you do not like your teeth.
Maybe this young man had already notice your teeth but did not care about them.
