How do I forget a spoiler?
I recently learned a major spoiler for a book that I've been eager to read for quite some time. I'm struggling with how to forget it. I even bumped my head, which made the details a bit hazy, but I still have a general idea of what happens. It's particularly frustrating because I didn't seek out this information; it was revealed to me unexpectedly. How can I move on from this spoiler and still enjoy the book?

L, I've had that happen to me before. It is difficult to forget a spoiler.
The only thing that has ever come close to helping me is to read several, completely unrelated, books before starting the one which has been spoiled. If I can really get into other stories, it will push the spoiler to the back of my mind, at least.
Give it time, fill your mind with other stories and other characters and then read the book. I hope that helps.
***Edit: L, not everyone assumed that!
ohh. this is about the Outsider isn't it? i really like the illustration on the cover of that book by the way. ð
whoa. and I quote " I have been wanting to read for quite some time" . . . wasent that out in 1942???? lalwz. (that was a pretty badly phrased attempt at a joke on my end) sorry (said like Degrassi)
hmm. see a brainwasher. . . perhaps tony blair??
or. . .
you could. . .
pretend that the spoiler was actually for something else (Harry Potter??) and then lounge back and read the book- not thinking about the spoiler- if that's at all possible. and hey!! that. . . silence might. . . work? ð
i hope you don't get a bruise from hitting your head! :O

That's tough. I had been told a spoiler about Harry Potter 7 and it ruined the entire freakin' book. I guess just to try not to think about it when you read the book. Live in the moment that your reading. Sorry someone spoiled it for you ð
I know what you mean. So many spoilers are being posted. It's kinda hard to forget about unless you have a bad memory so just try to be more careful not to come across anymore spoilers.

Watch a marathon of mindless television for about 2 days, or until the book comes out (if it's Breaking Dawn, it's not too long of a wait). I reccomend The Office, it tends to get my mind off of everything. Then, when the book comes out, just concentrate on reading the book, instead of thinking that you know what will happen.
um, i'd say push it to the back of your mind for now and try to ignore it. just read the book without thinking about what you think is going to happen. convince yourself that that particular spoiler was inaccurate. um, i'd say definitely don't try hitting your head on stuff... don't give yourself just for a book!
