If your friends smoke a lot, more than you, they probably have a physical tolerance that makes them have to smoke a lot more to get high. If they’ve been smoking for a long time and are used to being in situations where they can’t appear high even though they are (around parents etc.) they may have just learned how to look sober. Certain enzymes in the liver break down THC, and some other drugs may prevent them from doing so, causing you be higher longer. These include Tagamet (cimetidine) and SSRI antidepressants. If you search for Tagamet and weed, you’ll find that some have used the heartburn medicine to potentiate weed. Piracetam, a nootropic drug, also potentiates the **** out of weed. It also happens that different people have different natural levels of these enzymes, so if you had a relatively low level of “CYP2C9”, you would be higher than someone all other things being equal. In the majority of cases, these differences are not that great. If you’re taking an SSRI that might be one reason. But most likely you’re just not as used to it, physically and mentally.
