On November 11, 1957, June married stock car driver Edwin "Rip" Nix.
Edwin "Rip" Nix was June Carter's second husband, with whom she had a second daughter named Rosie, born on July 13, 1958. June and Nix were divorced in 1966.
A Madison, Tennessee native, Nix was the son of the late Grady and Mildred Capps Nix.
He was a 1953 graduate of Isaac Litton High School and worked with his father for many years at Nix Garage. He played football for the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was the former owner of Nix Construction Company and served as a deputy for the Davidson County Sheriff's Department. He was the inventor of the Line-a-Bed, which was patented in Madison in the early 1970s. - Legacy.com
Nix died on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Skyline Medical Center. He was 80.
