How long can you freeze ham?
I cut up a ham into slices around mid-April this year, and it's been in gallon freezer bags since then. I've noticed some ice crystals forming on the meat, but it has been frozen the entire time. Do the ice crystals affect the taste? Is the ham still safe to eat, in your opinion?

Actually, It depends on what kind of ham…
Whether : Country (which is cured with salt, and/or sugar)
which can last nearly indefinitely (but personally I would use
within 1 year…
Other hams, such as a picnic, honey cured, etc;etc, most
hams ARE CURED in one way or another. Even “Smoked”
ham is already to eat, right from the pack…
The ice crystals you see are usually from the package not
being securely sealed, which gives it a taste of
“Freezer Burn”. Still OK to be eaten (but soon)
Now, I TAKE THIS “VERY SERIOUSLY” Because this concerns “YOUR HEALTH!!!”
MYSELF, I COMPLETELY, trust keeping ham eatible for up to 9 months… Chicken holds the most “DANGERS”
Now, if you’re still unsure, throw it out!!! However if I lived next
door, I would ask for it…
I’ve eaten ham thats been FROZEN for up to 1&1/2 years old!!! And I’m still eating ham!!!
REGARDLESS, of the other answers here(everyone has their “OWN” beliefs & way of doing things) “I DON’T” condemn them for it!!!
HOWEVER, (like I’ve already said)
“I DO” take this “SERIOUSLY”….So you go ahead & enjoy
your ham, & DON’T give it a second thought…

TO: INDIAN Frenchman, Had you read “ALL” the artical you
would have “SEEN” It’s the “TASTE” & “NOT” the food that
“SUFFERS” IT SAYS (like I said) “FOOD CAN ALMOST LAST INDEFINITELY FROZE AT 0 DEGREES OR BELOW”
AGAIN, “I TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY!!!”

I had a ham cut up into slice about mid April this year. It is in gallon freezer bags. Some ice crystals. But frozen since. Don’t the ice crystals just mean alittle less taste? Is it still o.k. do ya think?
You can definitely cook it frozen but you need to drop the degree low, like 300 degrees. After that, tightly wrap the ham in aluminum foil and let it cook for about 15 minutes per half pound (usually about 10 minutes per half pound but it’s frozen, so add time accordingly) This will take about 1 hour. After that time has elapsed, take the ham out of the oven and turn the oven up to 325 degrees. Remove the aluminum (keep the oven on) and baste if you are doing a baste, then place back in the oven for about 25 minutes until browned. Remember, if it is already cooked you don’t need to cook like it’s raw. It’s pretty much heating up so that it’s not dry.

Don’t cook a frozen ham. Let it thaw first. Cooking anything like this frozen will give you a something overdone on the outside and still cold on the inside. A thawed, full cooked 2 lbs ham should be cooked in the oven at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes…or until internal temp reaches 140 degrees.
Hams that are vacuum sealed can be kept in the refrigerator for up to three weeks. When the vacuum seal is broken, the ham needs to be eaten within 2-3 days
i would only ever freeze it for 3 months, after that time it tends to become very hard and tasteless.
till it freezes. no just kidding .don’t really know T4 don’t worry about the crystals it should be fine.
