How long should I leave a tampon in? What is the best tampon brand to use?
I've heard varying opinions about how long a tampon should be left in. My mom suggests 3 hours, but some websites recommend 6 to 8 hours. Additionally, I'm uncertain about which tampon brand is best to use. I've tried several over the years, but none have really stood out to me. Unfortunately, when I buy a box, I feel like I need to use all of them before I can try a new brand. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

There is no “right” answer for the minimum of how long but there is a VERY right answer for the maximum. You should never wear a tampon for more than 8 hours because it increases the small, but serious, risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.
When a tampon has absorbed all it can, you might notice leaking or spotting. It can also start slipping a bit and may feel like it is uncomfortably low.
And I’m sorry it’s not a more helpful answer, but the “best” brand is the brand that you find comfortable and that best fits your flow and needs. Every brand’s “Regular” is going to be a little different in terms of width, length and materials/weaving. There’s no short cut to trying a few and seeing what you think.
Personally, I don’t like those flower-petal plastic applicators so I’ve never been a fan of Playtex and the like. For me – Tampax – Super and Slender Regular.
I understand your annoyance with the “whole box” issue. Do you have best friends or female relatives that might be willing to do some product comparison “swapping”?? Trading 4-5 of your brand for 4-5 of their brand is a great way for both of you to try a new brand without getting stuck with a whole box. I’ve ended up doing this by accident now and again when I’ve been caught unprepared on a trip or on an outing and while annoying, at least I got to try something new and see if it worked for me.

How long should I leave a tampon in? What is the best tampon brand to use?
I have heard different opinions about how long to leave it in. I mean my mom said 3 hours but some other websites said 6 and 8. And I am not sure which tampon to use. I have tried many over the years but not many seem to pop at me. And when I get a box i have to use the whole one before I try a new…
Every box of tampons tell you the right time to leave them in. I use and would suggest Tampax Pearl Plastic because cardboard applicators suck and because the Pearls have a better shape than any of the other plastic applicators. Also, the tampon itself expands width-wise instead of length-wise so it gives you more protection against leakage and whatnot.
The Pearl tampon instructions tell you to leave them in no longer than 6-8 hours.
You can leave them in for the most 8 hours. I use playtex sport they work very well, and I am thinking about trying playtex gentle glide…. they come with plastic applicators so its easier to insert. and there are websites that you can get free samples of about 3 tampons why dont you order some.. they are free and they get mailed to you then you can decide from there which ones to use that way you dont have to buy a whole box and waste your money because you dont like them
I personally use u-kotex small and I leave mine for 4 hours but I just tried a tampon today hope I was of help
What I do when I use a tampon is put a panty liner (like a little small pad) and every hour check for blood and if there is some I’d change it.
It depends on how heavy your flow is and the absorbency tampon you use.
When my flow is heavy and I use Super, I have to change every three hours or else I risk accidents. Later I switch to Regular when my period is lighter and change every 6 hours.
I use Playtex Gentle Glide.
Well the easiest too slip in is,
platex gentle glide,
or
tampax pearl,
but always use plastic aplicators.
because the are the easiest too get in, cardboard will seem a bit uncomfterable,
and also you should leave then in for about 3-6 hours.
that way you wont have too go through the process of bleeding through,
and if your going out somewhere.
where a tampon AND a pad.
that way if you bleed through.
it wont show!
I asked my Gyn this question and he said 6-8 hrs. I always end up changing it whenever I go to the bathroom though, because I just don’t feel very clean if I leave it after I’ve peed on it. But it is safe to sleep in them. I’ve been using tampons for 20 years and have never had a problem. My favorite brand is OB because I hate the applicators. With OB, you can stick them in your pocket, and there is no bloody applicator in your bathroom garbage can. Before I switched to OB, my favorite brand was Kotex with the plastic applicators. They were the easiest to put in and never leaked.
take it out when its full but if it starts leaking before 2 hours or is full before 2 hours get the next absorbency up…try tampax compact or playtex sport dnt use ob there crap … but make sure do not leave it in more than 8 hours if at 8 hours it is not full use a lower absorbancy
