How many years between 2013 and 700 BC?

What is the difference in years between 2013 and 700 BC? How would one calculate this difference?

Don’t believe anyone who tells you it’s a simple math problem. This is not a straightforward math problem because THERE IS NO YEAR ZERO. So it’s math plus a big dollop of common sense.

But there is another issue before I can answer. You are asking 2 different questions. Between is the word confusing the issue. I’ll tell you how to figure them based on a simple example and then you can sub any actual dates you want.

The crucial years to consider are these, the 4 consecutive years around the change of era:

2 BC

1 BC

1 AD

2 AD

Question 1: How many years are between 2 BC and 2 AD ?

We have to be careful of that word ‘between’. Example: “How many states are between New York and Ohio?” The answer is one (Pennsylvania) because you do not count the states you are talking about.. So ‘years between’ can describe a group of years not including the extreme years There are two years in between 2 BC and 2 AD, namely 1 BC and 1 AD.

Question 2

“How many years passed from 2 BC and 2 AD?”

Three. We add one year for each year that passes. 2 BC to 1 BC is one year, 1 BC to 1 AD is one year, and 1 AD to 2 AD is one year = three years. In this question we DO include the end year because don’t get to it unless we do.

Well, BC years decend as time passes 700BC next year is 699BC. So from 700BC to the year 0 is 700 years. from 0 to 2013 is 2013 years. add 700 to 2013 and you get 2713.

not sure if troll bc means before christ so you just add up the 2 numbers 2013+700 equals 2713

Everyone always falls down this hole ?

There is no “Year Zero” in the calendar. The year before 1AD was 1BC.

700 BC to 1BC = 699 years. 1BC to 2013AD = 2013 years.

Total 2712 years.
