how much do fitness models make per year?
What is the average annual income of fitness models, specifically those featured in health magazines and as Nike brand ambassadors? I'm particularly interested in the earnings of female models in this industry.

You don’t get paid per year. You get paid based on the number of jobs you book and the type of work
Magazine work pays the worst – usually $350-500 per shoot. The reason models do them is for the exposure and the chance to add tear sheets to their portfolio. So while they might have only made $500 for a shoot in Self or Shape Magazine, their photos are going to be seen by every advertiser and they hope one of them may want to use them for a future job
For a Nike ad, it all depends where the ad will be shown and for how long. Also if it’s only a print ad or they are also shooting a tv commercial or promo spot. If it’s a print ad for shoes and your face and whole body are shown, and the ad will run globally for up to 12 months, you could potentially make $10-15,000. If only your legs were showing, you might get $1000.
To answer your main question, no I would not lose respect. Most famous athletes do some sort of modeling or commercial work. In fact once you go pro it would help your career. The only problem with your plan is that its hard to be successful at something when your also trying to do something else. No matter how pretty you are you can’t just be a model. It takes hundreds of shoots and most of them are unpaid and take hours. Boxing, as I’m sure you know, is the same. It takes hundreds of hours in the gym and for a while you wont earn a cent. Famous actor Jerry Orbach (tony winner, law and order star, and the candle stick in beauty in the beast) once said “If you want to be an actor then make that your job. Don’t do anything else”. If you want to really go pro and be champ then that’s what you need to do. There are hundreds of guys out there who want to go pro and don’t want anything else. So trying to be a model while trying to go pro will only hurt you. Pick one, work hard at it, succeed.
This really depends, new models usually get pretty poor pay, infact some statistics from a few years ago state it was the worst paid job in the U.S
But the longer you keep at it, the more you can get paid as fame = higher pay.
There was this site that i checked out a while ago called divinefitnessmodel.com that had a report on what you were asking up on thier site, dont know if its still there though.
