how to get the DeSmuME gameboy emulator to run at double speed?
I'm looking for guidance on how to configure the DeSmuME emulator to run Game Boy games at double speed. Are there specific settings or adjustments I need to make to achieve this, and will any performance changes affect gameplay? Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Get a better cpu? It needs at the very min of like a 2.0-2.2ghz processor to play games, 2.4-2.6ghz+ to play at good speeds.
Or did you mean like fast forward/turbo mode?
To do that go to “Config > Hotkey config”
Now set “fast forward” to w/e key you want it to, then press&hold that key to play faster. (Note you will not really be able to fast forward unless you have more then needed cpu power. If you bearly have enough to play, the fast forward speed will not be very much).

The DeSmuME emulator has a setting under the emulation options to increase the LCD refresh rate. Setting the LCD refresh rate from * 1 to * 2 will effectively double the speed of DeSmuME emulation, if your computer’s CPU can handle it. In general, if DeSmuME is slow on your computer, the only thing you can do to speed it up is to increase the frameskip. The frameskip values range from 0 to 9, 9 being the jerkiest. Frameskip is what is sounds like: the emulator will skip a number of frames per every frame drawn. If your computer runs DeSmuME at about half the speed, try setting the frameskip to 3 or 4. If you get around 70~80% speed, trying setting the frameskip to 1 or 2. Other than that, the DeSmuME emulator is limited by the speed of your CPU. If you’re getting less than 50%, you might have to set the frameskip anywhere from 5 to 9, but be warned. The higher the frameskip, the jerkier the graphics and the less playable the game will seem. EDIT: It seems that the LCD refresh rate method didn’t work for you. The only other way to increase emulation speed of DeSmuME on your computer (besides speed hacks) is through frameskipping. At this point, you might as well play with a frameskip of 2 or 3. Let me know how that works out for you. @Filenotfound Yes lol (Wish I did to a lesser degree). Forgot about the graphics reduction solution tho;)
