In the NFL, what does it mean to “simulate the snap count”?

I was watching Football Night in America earlier tonight, and they were showing a highlight of the Steelers-Titans game.The Titans attempted a field goal, but one of the Steelers players was flagged for "unsportsmanlike conduct" because he tried to simulate the snap count.What does that mean?

It means someone on the defense was purposely chanting the snap count to confuse the offense.... Show More
