Parvaid for Parvo? Does it work or is it a crock?Any vets out there to answer?
My dog was recently exposed to Parvo. She has had one set of vaccinations, but we haven't yet gotten her second dose. This puts her at risk of contracting the virus. (Please, no rude comments or lectures.)
During my research, I came across a product called Parvaid. I’m curious if anyone here has used it and whether it worked as effectively as advertised. Does it truly help, or is it not worth considering?
Currently, my dog doesn’t show any symptoms, and she may not even have Parvo, but I want to be prepared for anything since her chances of exposure are high. Any insights would be greatly appreciated, especially from those with experience or veterinary expertise!

To start with, I would definitely need to know more information about when the puppy was exposed, vaccinated, how old it is, etc.. but here it goes..
Typically at the clinic I work at we don’t recommend using products like Parvaid because they aren’t approved by the FDA nor proven to work reliably enough.
But if you want to use this product this is what I recommend – seeing as though Parvaid is a herbal form of treatment, and the recommendation is to start using the product before symptoms start, you should get this product and start it IMMEDIATELY. Weather the puppy has or has not contracted this virus it can’t hurt to give it. My STRONG recommendation is that if symptoms arise and the puppy’s health starts to deteriorate, please take it to the vet and do not rely on this product to take care of it.
Good luck ð
One week ago today, I brought two pups home. One started vomiting and diarrhea, took to the vet and he tested positive for parvo. The pet hospital took him in and put him on sub q fluids, an antibiotic and an antivomit. Only to stabilize him. His brother immediately went into quarantine here because I have 10 other dogs that are up to date on their shots but could still be at risk. The other pup went down a few days later. The vet office was very clear, there is no cure for parvo and it is going to take fluids and food and time. I came home with both pups and sub q fluids and antibiotics and antivomit stuff. Three breeders recommended Parvaid. I ordered it over the weekend and paid 2nd day shipping. It got here, the last shot of antivomit from the vet. The instructions say, so many drops per hour until animal eats. I didn t have anything to loose. !st drops, no eat. 2nd drops, licked food. Third drops, ate food. In my book – that works. For those of you who say, it is just herbs? It use to be, herbs were our medication until they were chemically produced. Not approved by the FDA – I m thinking that is a blessing. Today both of my pups are eating, not vomiting. This is herbs in an alcohol solution. It helps the digestion and immune system – which think of it like ginger ale to an upset stomach. Now that I have found this – I will always keep a bottle on hand. Everyone that has used it, there pups have survived, what more recommendation do you need?
Well…it saved all 8 of our puppies. Administered along side collidial silver. And yes, I’m positive it was parvo. We had just had a dog die from parvo a few months prior. (Took him to the vet, were he never returned home from) And parvo lives on the ground for a long time. I highly recommend having this product around the home. Just in case you know someone who may need it for their pet at some time.

There have been some people here who have had great success with this. It all depends how sick the pups is before you start to use this. I have never personally seen this medication. I would strongly urge you first find out if your pup is in danger of getting the virus by speaking to your vet. If you wish to have this on hand that up to you but I don’t think it should be used as a replacement for care by your vet.
My 2 puppies were sick, I made a huge mistake and took the first one to the animal hospital, they said there was nothing they could do and I couldn’t take the dog home or they’d call animal control on me as well. Put my puppy down. Over $300 in charges.
The second puppy I decided to treat myself. I picked up Parvaid at Jones animal feed in North Las Vegas Tuesday night and started treating the puppy with it round the clock hourly doses of Parvaid and Pedeolyte. The Vibactra I wasn’t able to get until Wednesday afternoon and started administering it as well. Puppy had been sick starting Sunday and I was a reck trying to figure out what to do after the first puppy being put down the day before. But the vomiting stopped Wednesday night and by Thursday puppy was drinking water on her own and today (Friday) the puppy is eating on her own.
Not out of the woods yet as we need to keep up the meds for 3 days to avoid a relapse.
ANSWER: YES PARVAID WORKS
As a professional dog trainer for over 16 years, I have to tell you my strong opinion that you need these group classes for obedience training. http://onlinedogtraining.enle.info/?r14A
Other pet warehouses are there to get you to buy their products and hang around their strore. And their trainers are their employees…never forget they have an agenda. Most of the trainers have very little education–if they had actual training and skills they wouldn’t be there making just over minimum wage–trust me on this. But even if they did have experience and talent…a group setting is a terrible place for learning to take place. It’s distraction training and it is the LAST phase of training not the first. You wouldn’t have your child try to do their homework in a toy store, would you? Of course not…the level of distraction would be too high! It’s the same with dogs. Having said that, these classes can be an excellent way to socialize dogs…but not to train them. And while they appear to be cheaper than a professional trainer…you have to attend many more sessions to get the same results because of the poor learning environment–so you wind up spending MORE money for less training than you would with a professional. Save your money and go to someone who actually knows how to train dogs. OR, read books and try to train your dog yourself. There is nothing they train at a Petsmart or Petco that you can’t do yourself with a couple of hours of reading.
