Should I tell my manager I have pink eye?

I recently started a summer job for the school break, and I’m eager to keep it before school resumes. I’ve only worked about 20 hours, and I really enjoy the job—it pays well, and it's fun. My role mainly involves stocking liquor on the shelves. Today is my fourth day, but I’ve come down with pink eye. I’m hesitant to mention it to my manager because I don’t want to make a bad impression so early on. Moreover, I can’t wear my contact lenses due to the condition, and my eyesight is quite poor without them. My shift starts in about 20 minutes, and I’m worried that calling in last minute to explain that I have pink eye will make me appear as a bad employee. Should I tell my manager about my situation?

Absolutely. As highly contagious as conjunctivitis is the manager should appreciate your honesty. Can't imagine the boss would be too happy if he lost all his employees due to a pink eye breakout caused by you!

you mean, conjunctivitis?

yes, of course you should tell your manager about it.

ask him to suggest what you can do..

you may work while you have a pink eye, but do not touch or rub your hands especially the discharges coz it may transmit to the other person. always wash your hands before and after you put liquor to the shelves to avoid cross contamination.

apply some eye drop antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor.

NEVER use contact lenses, it's a NO-NO, or else, it will get you infected and cause you more troube.

Yeesh! I hope you called in! Pink eye is very contagious, but all it usually requires is a prescription eye drop. Go to a walk-in clinic and get the drops. They say that it's no longer contagious after 24 hours of treatment, you could return to work tomorrow. Be responsible, were I your boss and you gave me pink eye, I'd fire you a lot faster than if you called in to save me and everyone else from exposure.

YES!

Just so you know, You get pink eye when you rub your nose and then touch your eye.Your nose has a weird kind of oil on it so don't get that oil in you eye or you'll get pink eye.

pink eye is highly contagious. call in. if you,re a good employee, you will not be fired. when my wife got it, she was not allowed at work for two days.

Wear your glasses. Go to the store and get visine. You don't have to tell your employer you have pink eye. Just be careful not to spread it.
