Sun conjunct ascendant in synastry?!?
I have a question about synastry, specifically regarding the Sun conjunct Ascendant aspect. His Sun is at an exact degree of 26, which falls on my Ascendant. Here are our placements:
My chart: - Sun in Gemini - Moon in Sagittarius - Rising in Sagittarius - Mercury in Taurus - Venus in Taurus - Mars in Aries - Jupiter in Cancer - Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune in Capricorn - Pluto in Scorpio
His chart: - Sun in Sagittarius - Moon in Gemini - Mercury in Capricorn - Mars in Libra - Venus in Scorpio - Jupiter in Sagittarius - Saturn in Scorpio - Uranus in Sagittarius - Pluto in Scorpio
I recently met him, and I feel an intense bond and comfort with him; I even feel a bit obsessed already. However, I have some concerns about our Venus placements, as my Venus opposes his Venus, and my Venus also opposes his Saturn. We share many oppositions in our charts. Can someone help analyze our synastry? Thank you!

Yes, you MUST use the degrees to find the aspects, and the aspects are what makes the attraction and bond.
Sun conjunct the other person’s Ascendant is an indication of long-term attraction and bonding. People rarely marry unless their Ascendant or Descendant is conjunct the other person’s Sun or Moon or Venus or Mars.
When it is Sun that is conjunct the Ascendant, you two are instantly comfortable with each other … you fit each other like “old shoes” (the fit is good and comfortable).
My first husband and I, married for 15 years, had the exact Sun-Ascendant conjunction too. Other factors broke us up, but I certainly enjoyed being married with him while it lasted.
Venus opposite Venus … a minor irritation. You two don’t share a lot of values or favorite past-times.
Venus opposite Saturn … the Saturn person becomes cold or withdrawn OR becomes a burden to the Venus person, darkening their joy with life. This aspect is one of the worst aspects you can have.
Oh well … there is NO such thing as a relationship without problems. The deciding factor is how well each person can handle their own emotions and not try to force the other to change, how well they can put their own needs 2nd to the needs of each other, and how good their communication skills are.
All that the astrological chart comparison shows is how strong the bond is and how difficult the problems the couple will face … it doesn’t really indicate if they will be able to succeed. Except perhaps for the absence of the type of Asc. bond mentioned above … without that it is extremely unlikely they will stay together long at all.
One thing I would like to recommend is that you learn what infatuation is, what causes it, how long it lasts, and why it always dies out. You talk about being super-bonded an obsessed, and this is a bad indication. The problem is that once conflict comes in (sometime after the honeymoon period dies out), the more strongly-bonded we felt before, the more we overreact to the problems and blow them out of proportion.
The saying is:
The stronger the chemistry is in the beginning, the more problems there will be later on.
However, when there is a strong Asc. bond, the two people are motivated to hang in there longer than other couples would. NO guarantee, because that also has to balance out with the strength of the problems in the comparison.
Good uck.
Are they within 8 degrees of each other? If not, this is not a conjunction. If they are in conjunction with each other, this means that you two are as comfortable with each other as an old shoe on your foot. A very strong bond, instant best friends. Your public mask (Ascendant) is the same style as his own self-image (Sun) so he feels instantly comfortable with you. You understand his basic needs and resonate to who he is.
