There are no pacts between lions and men. What does this quote mean?
The quote "There are no pacts between lions and men" is from the movie Troy (2004), spoken by the character Achilles, portrayed by Brad Pitt. What does this quote imply? Does it suggest that lions and men can never truly be friends? While a lion might communicate with a man, is it inevitable that the lion could ultimately pose a threat to him? I would like to discuss the deeper meanings and implications of this statement.

It is actually from The Iliad, and Samuel Butler's translation of the whole line is" "There can be no covenants between men and lions, wolves and lambs can never be of one mind, but hate each other out and out an through."

I know this question is years old, but I think it means, Achilles is in his own warrior class. He is like a lion walking around with men, he is superior and better than then because he is the son of a godess. He is telling hector that he will die, and there will be no pact between them for what he did to Patroclus.
It means Lions are Lions despite what a man thinks about it all the Lion will always be a Lion and will probably eat him.
This was a quote from the movie "Troy" and means that lions and men do not get along, therefor they would not make a pact together

For sure that's what it means. And powerful people know this. That's why when they bust drug lord's home in Mexico he had all those lions and tigers, a constant reminder. http://www.viralnova.com/mexican-drug-lord-house/
