The important point is that there is no year 0. 1 BC is followed immediately by 1 AD. One other thing to remember in dates: There was no year zero. Right now, we are in the year 2014. 2013 years ago, we were in the year 1 although no one called it that at the time. The year before that we were in 1 B.C. If you try to line up time on a standard number line, there seems to be a hole in the middle.
