Vet and Doctor question!?

When referring to a doctor who treats humans, we typically use the title "Dr." followed by their name, such as Dr. Philip. However, when it comes to veterinarians, what is the appropriate way to address them? Should we say "Vet Philip," "Dr. Philip," or something else entirely? I would appreciate clarification on the correct terminology for addressing a veterinarian.

good question

it actually depends.some people call vets as “Dr.”…like Dr.Quackquack or Dr.Scooby…something like that

but on a more accurate term, it should be “vet”.like Vet Pooky or Vet Klengkleng.

becuase,a vet studies a different kind of medicine field from doctors.a doctor studies “human” Medicine but vets study Veterinary Medcine.it is just like with nurses,a qualified nurse cannot be called as a “doctor”.

♦with different fields, come different names given to people.if you study architecture, then you are called an “architect”.

♦if you study culinary art, then you are called a “chef”.

♦if you study biology, then you are a biologist.

so if you study veterinary science, then you are called a “veterinarian”

have a nice day.good question,by the way.

I mean a veterinarian has gone to medical school. Both the requirements to get into human medical school and veterinary medical school are genrally the same courses in undergraduate. Both go to a medical school afterwards except veterinarians are trained regarding multiple species and human doctors obviously humans- so technically they are medical doctors and I’ve heard them go by Dr. They aren’t doctors of human medicine, they are doctors of veterinary medicine, but still doctors.

However I don’t know if vets care that much so some probably are cool with just calling them by their names but any practice/or vet I’ve interacted with in a clinic has gone by “Dr.”

you are getting this all wrong kids! someone who gets a doctorate degree in any field is a doctor. The abbreviation “Dr.” can be applied before their full name and they can call themselves doctor in their field of study. A person who gets a degree in human medicine is a physician and also a doctor. a person who gets a degree in veterinary medicine is a veterinarian and also a doctor. A person who gets a phD in biology is a biologist and a doctor.

Usually a veterinarian is addressed as Dr. Philips or Dr. Smith (what ever his or her name is)

Vets go to school for about as long as human doctors do. They learn the disease processes for animals. They also learn how the health of animals affects human health.

Their degree is Doctor of Veternay Medicine. (Usually…I guess there are other titles/degrees according to the school or licensing) The doctor is a DVM…not a PhD. (This applies to the United States)

I think it’s just doctor.

They normally have a phD, which makes them a doctor.

For example, Ross from FRIENDS is a doctor of dinosaurs, and he’s technically a doctor, even though he’s not actually got any sort of medical degree, human or not.

My lab turned 13 in May of 2014. He is in grreat condition, but has arthritis which he’s being treated for with rx. Is it necessary to vacinate for distemper/parvo at this time. I’m thinking I’d do a rabies only at this time. He is not around other dogs and is in good condition.

it all depends on where you live to what they get called. Generally it is Dr, but some country’s it is just Mr….. or Mrs…… or what ever. having the title os vet is what they are not their name title. Usually vets will introduce them selves by their first names to make you feel More comfortable but you should always call them but Dr…. or Mr…Mrs…
