NH3Cl+ is sort of the chlorine(I) analog of the ammonium ion. There are four bonds on nitrogen consisting of four pairs of electrons. Chlorine has three lone pairs in addition to the bonding pair shared with N. The four electron pairs are oriented along the axes of a tetrahedron, resulting in bond angles of approximately 109.5 degrees. The ion is tetrahedral with tetrahedral electron pair geometry.
