What do the letters on the back of football referees' and umpires' jerseys represent? On the back of their uniforms, football referees and umpires often have letters like "R" or "F." What do these letters indicate?

It refers to their positions:

R= Referee

HL= Head Linesman

LJ= Line judge

U= Umpire

BJ= Back Judge

FJ= Field Judge

SJ= Side Judge
