what does 0.5 cups mean?

i was looking at a recipe and it it said 0.5 cups of cocoa but i don't know what it means.

It's a decimal. Raised by wolves I see?1/21-2 Fill it to the half-cup mark.For reference:0.75 = 3/40.25 =1/4Those are the only commonly used ones. 1/3 is 0.33 repeating so it's never written that way.
