What does 3e-8 mean?

OK, I'm retarded. Math isn't my bag. I should have paid more attention in class. But here I am and I need to know what 3e-8 means. A big number? A small number? I give up. (I will be happy if it's a small number though.)More details: it's the probability of obtaining a SOBEL test result of 5.56668. Thanks
