Is it ok to microwave Ore-Ida frozen tater tots?
Is it acceptable to microwave Ore-Ida frozen tater tots? The heating instructions recommend baking, pan frying, or deep frying. I'm curious if microwaving them is a viable option. Specifically, I have the "Extra Crispy" seasoned potatoes.

They won't be as crisp, of course - but yes you can cook them in a microwave.
They don't recommend that method on the package because they aren't going to come out as well as most people like and people might complain thinking it was the fault of the manufacturer.

The heating/cooking instructions say to either bake, pan or deep fry. Can I microwave? These are the "extra cripsy" seasoned potatoes.
You can if you want, but the thing is they're going to be really really soggy because it's frozen and when it melts the water is gonna soak into the tater tot. They aren't going to be anywhere near crispy/crunchy like they're suppose to be. i suggest frying them then throwing a pinch of salt on em if you want. You're not going to like them microwaved, trust me i tried doing that with ore-ida fries. but if you're lazy to fry them then you can do this:
*Throw them in the microwave until they thaw but don't let them thaw all the way or they'll break easily, then throw them in the oven. That way if you only cook it in the oven without the microwave, it will only cook the inside and burn the outside.
Hi on the go girl, to be honest I've never heard of them but if they are supposed to be extra crispy then the microwave is not the best place to cook or warm them through as they will become soggy. Unless you have a dual purpose microwave.
I hope this helps,all the best.Rab
That's an interesting question and I hope you'll find some reasonable answers

Tater Tots are best cooked in the oven or frying pan. However, if you simply cannot wait for your tucker, I suggest that you microwave them for half the time and bake them in the oven for the rest.
they'll cook but they will taste weird, I tried that with hash browns and boy were they not delicious.

They won't be crispy at all that way - they will be mushy and gross.
