My Transition Lenses don’t work?

I got my glasses a month and a half ago and was in vacation and when I was at the beach, it was really sunny and the sun was full on hitting it and it only turned very light purple. They practically looked normal. Is there a certain trick to them or somethin? My dad paid insurance, but that's for glasses damage. My dad paid a lot of money for them and we're apartment budget. What can I do?

Here's a little trick to see if they really are defective. Make sure you have a sunny day. Put your glasses in the freezer for 5 minutes and then take them out into the sun and see if they turn pretty dark. If they do, then there is nothing wrong with them. If they don't, then take them back as being defective. The reason for this????Transition lenses are activated by ultraviolet light from the sun but they are - Affected by temperature. The hotter it is, the LESS dark they turn. The colder it is, the MORE dark they turn. So, in order to see if they are working properly, on a warm day with the sun out, we put them into a freezer which turns the lenses cold. With the lenses cold, we conclude that they should turn pretty dark when exposed to the sun. Almost all the time they do, but some of the time they do not and that is when we say they are defective. Sometimes, on a really hot day, especially on a beach where the sun's rays are also being reflected off the hot sand, they will not turn much darker than a dark "fashion tint". Try it out and see.... Gee.. there's even an EASIER way to test them... take your glasses and a piece of paper outside to the sunlight... and cover half of each lens with the paper under sunlight. After a minute, have a look at your lenses to see if they're (each) half dark and half light. if you don't see this, take them back and demand them to be remade.NB. Transitions is a TRADE NAME for Photochromatic Lenses. Some places may use other brands that have 20+ yr old technology insteand of Transitions <--- arguably the best in the market at the moment... and they may not react as dark or as fast as Transitions... For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/ax2TLThey will turn black don't worry, they just don't work behind the windshield of a car, so for driving it won't change. They do go black go, if you see purple it's because you weren't outside long enough for them to turn black, as the name says it's a transition so it takes time, especially if the lens are newer, it takes time for the transition to turn dark more quickly.... The place you got them from will surely replace the lenses for free under warranty...they are defective. It happens sometimes with Transitions.... Show More
