Or do you think this is just a marketing ploy, I don’t know much about buying bikes, I’m not a serious biker, I want a Bike with good brakes, and not too bad. Is ‘Trax’ a good company? I would not buy a full suspension bike in that price range. They may look cool but that is where it ends. The shocks on the rear tend to eat up and pedaling energy that you put into the pedals. I have ridden bikes like that and they wear you out very quickly. You would be much happier by buying a name brand hard tail mountain bike. In my opinion a wouldn’t even pay 130 lbs for a new one let alone a used one.

This is very subjective. How much money are you thinking off? Some mountain bikes can easily get above 7,000 bucks. Also, the better bikes are usually sold frame only, and you would just build it with the components that you want. That could make two bikes with the same frame to feel different. And a freeride bike will feel different than a XC bike, so you can’t compare a Turner Nitrous with a Santa Cruz V10, they’re just for different use and both are very good. Some of the best brands are Titus, Turner, Ventana, Intense, Santa Cruz, Ellsworth, and some others. They’re not as big as Specialized or Trek or Kona. But, Ferrari or Porsche aren’t as big as Ford or Volkswagen.

You can buy it new from Halfords online for £129.99http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/…It’s not hideously bad but it’s NOT a mountain bike, it’s just another cheap imitation. I think Trax only make poor quality bikes – “Trax” sounds a lot like “Trek” – maybe an attempt to confuse people. For £130 I’d put my money on a secondhand hybrid or ask around and see if there are any mountain bike enthusiasts around who might have an old spare bike for sale.
