It is because of the reaction of photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 12H2O –> C6H12O6 + 6H2O + O2 which can take place only during the day, in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll. During the night, plants take in oxygen for respiration and release carbon dioxide through the stomata. So that’s the answer: during the DAY. Hope you got the answer.
