What does "amp;amp" mean on Craigslist?

It could be that the source code (HTML) being used to generate the page you’re viewing isn’t quite compatible with the browser you’re using. So, some of the symbols on the page are rendered in what is called a character entity reference. For example, the character entity reference for an ampersand (&) is rendered as ” & amp ; ” (without the quotes – note that I had to space those out, too, because keeping them together just showed a & sign on the “Preview you answer” page).
Or there may be some other specific type of character rendering syntax that someone used, where the string “amp;amp” has some other kind of specific meaning.
