What does SIT.NOMEN.DOMINI.V.BENEDICTVM 1648 mean – it is stamped on a silver dish I have.?
What does "SIT.NOMEN.DOMINI.V.BENEDICTVM 1648" mean? I found this inscription stamped on a silver dish that I own, and I would like to understand its significance and historical context.

Where do you live? If anywhere near a major city, call up the reputable museums and ask. You have a very rare piece of silver and it should be appraised and insured. If what I found is what you have, you need to do this right away. If you have to call Christies in New York, I would do it.
I tried to translate the page, but it won’t let me. Call your local or big city REPUTABLE museums, auction houses, appraisers, etc. They will help you out. And NEVER let that piece out of your sight.
Check out this website. It looks like a coin and not a dish, though. And “sit nomen domini benedictum” is from Job 1:21; it means “blessed be the name of the Lord.”
