What does this poem translate to in English?
What is the English translation of the following poem?
On the edge of a pond, the duck was saying: “To what animal did heaven give the gifts that I possess? I am of water, land, and air. When I tire of walking, if I feel like it, I can fly; if I feel like it, I can swim.”
A clever snake, which had been listening, called out with a hiss and said: “Handsome sir, there’s no need to boast so much; for you neither walk like a stag, nor fly like a hawk, nor swim like a carp. Remember, what’s important and rare is not to understand everything, but to be skilled at something.”
Please avoid using a simple translator, as that often results in nonsense.

This is my best attempt at it:
On the edge of a pond,
a duck was saying:
– ¿To which animal has heaven given
the gifts I have been awarded?
I’m of water, earth and air.
When I tire of walking,
if it pleases me so, I fly;
if it pleases me so, I swim;
An astute snake,
who had been listening,
called him (whistling),
and said: – Mister handsome,
you shouldn’t boast so much;
because neither do you walk as a deer,
nor fly like a falcon,
or swim as a barbel.
An so, be informed,
the important thing and rare to find
isn’t to be knowledgeable about everything,
but being skilled in something.
