what does “what are you into” mean?
I am currently studying English as a second language, and someone asked me, "What are you into?" I couldn’t fully understand what they meant. For context, we are getting to know each other online before meeting in person. Could anyone explain what this phrase means? Thank you!

....The phrase "What are you into" has only entered the English language in recent years.
Previously it would have been something like anyone of the following.
.......1.."What do you do for a living?"
.......2.."What are you interested in (referring to Games, hobbies ,sports,Etc.) in?"
.......3.."What do you do for a crust?"....
There are many others, but they all means the same thing, as in answer number 1.and 2

Avatars refer to a concept that is not any different at all from your "real" name as also only concept. This is a spiritual question because, in fact, there is nothing such as a You that exists. The You/Me/I which folks think they are is a linguistic convention for something that exists only in a dualistic consciousness. Importantly and ultimately, there is not a You and Your Life. There is not God except as your dualistic consciousness thinks one up. Knowing this or even just acting as if this were true changes behavior in a positive way. Thinking there is a God usually (not always) results in the worst kind of behavior because of the divisive delusion and ultimate arrogance it is based on. The practice of remembering and reminding one's "self" this is usually called religion in the broadest sense. Kshetra means a field of action and a holy place - sometimes site of a war - which affects consciousness in the way that physics describes reality. The World Trade Center Site in New York is one such Kshetra.
It's very commonly used , especially on online dating sites etc.
Means:
1. What are you your interests in the context of " what you guys are talking about".
for example: if you are on a hookup site:
>> What are your sexual interests and fetishes etc. ?
2. What do you do for a living?
3. What are your interests (Personal, hobbies, music etc. ) ?
It means like "What do you like to do?" It is informal, and kind of like "What [activities/hobbies] are you in to [Into meaning "involved in"]?"
She's basically asking what you like to do in your spare time...do you play any sports? Are you an artist? What type of music do you listen to?

your hobbies, what you listen to, what you watch on TV and stuff like that - things you like and follow it to some extent, either online or offline.
