What factors allow a pool of 20 amino acids to produce thousands of unique proteins?

The correct answers are A, E, and F. There are only 20 amino acids that make up all the proteins in our bodies; however, the options for protein variation are nearly limitless. Firstly, you can vary the types of amino acids used to construct a protein. Secondly, you can also change the length of the amino acid chain. Thirdly, as an amino acid chain is formed, different parts of the chain interact with one another, bonding chemically and resulting in various three-dimensional structures of the protein. All of these factors contribute to the vast diversity of proteins.

The building blocks of proteins are amino acids, which are small organic molecules that consist of an alpha (central) carbon atom linked to an amino group, a carboxyl group, a hydrogen atom, and a variable component called a side chain
