What happens in the reaction of cyclohexanol and lithium diisopropylamide (LDA)?!?!?!?

I have a lab report studying dehydration of alcohols with strong acids. A post lab question has cyclohexanol and LDA in a reaction yielding cyclohexene, which is wrong. IT is asking why this is not correct and what the real mechanism would be. I am so lost as to what to do with the lithium ion!!!

To clarify the other answer, the most acidic proton in cyclohexanol is the hydroxyl proton, so it reacts with LDA in an acid-base neutralization reaction.... Show More
