What is a good song when you’re sick of being judged?

I am feeling overwhelmed by constant judgment from my parents. My mother treats me like I'm the wildest girl she has ever encountered, which is completely absurd, and my father acts as if I am the biggest sinner in the world. I am exhausted by their condescending comments and need to express my frustration. It's my life, and I want to live it on my own terms! Is there a good song that reflects these feelings? Thank you.

Well, do you do things that don't line up with your parents' morality? Because if you are going out, drinking, doing drugs, and sleeping around, then maybe they have a point, right? Sometimes all it takes is a little drug use, or a casual boyfriend or two, to set a parent off.

It's a good chance that they see themselves in you, and that scares them. You probably won't understand until you become a parent yourself... you want the best for your child, and you don't want your kid to repeat the same mistakes, heartaches, and f**k-up's that you did when you were their age.

I'm a parent, could you tell? Heh heh. Seriously, though, it's tough trying to be yourself. I stopped talking to my parents about my issues and how I was dealing with them (bipolar/suicide and lots and lots of drugs). It wasn't until close to ten years later, now that I'm a parent as well, that I've been able to establish any kind of close communication, but there's a distance there that will never quite go away.

I don't know what your relationship with your parents is, but I'd hate to see you lose it entirely. I wish I could give you honest advice, but all I've known to do was to be myself. Almost ten years later I can acknowledge that I am an alcoholic (20 months sober), but I couldn't then.

Well, anyways, I wish you the best. I hope some of that made some kind've sense.

As far as your musical question:

"Teenage Dirtbag" - Wheatus

"Passenger" - Deftones feat Maynard from Tool

"This Is Now" - Hatebreed

"I Will Be Heard" - ditto (actually, pretty much all Hatebreed)

the Great Milenko album by Insane Clown Posse

(it's fun, and it pisses people off apparently)

"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" - U2

"I'll C U When You Get There" - Coolio

the Opiate EP by Tool

"Ball Tongue" - Korn

"Not Gonna Get Us", "Clowns" - Tatu

kind've random, but that's how I roll

EDIT: ha ha ha a song from Lindsay Lohan? Oh, sure, I bet that she wrote it about how all those tabloids were talking smack about her and her (completely true) escapades of alcohol and drug abuse and sleeping around. *chuckle*

We're Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister.

Only For The Weak by In Flames

Suburban Met by In Flames (kind of)

Pinball Map by In Flames

Cloud Connected by In Flames

In Flames is all about depressing stuff (kind of) but I guess its a lot about life and its troubles.

We're not gonna take it was written when the parents started boycotting Twisted Sister's music and tried to get them banned..so it really works lol

hope that helps

When I'm upset and feel like I've been wrongly judged, I listen to "Mad World" by Gary Jules. It's really calming and absolutely beautiful. The lyrics are perfect.

My Life by Billy Joel

the song doesn't start until about 1:30 into this video

but here's another, it was the theme song to a tv show they may remember.
