What is an iv????????????????????????

My friend says she’s at the doctors getting an iv? Why would she possibly need to be tested?

IV stands for intravenous, or “in the veins”. Basically it’s reference to medicines or fluids that are administered through a drip system directly into your vein. Usually when people say this, they mean they’re getting IV fluids. I’m guessing your friend was severely dehydrated.... Show More

An IV is a tube that puts medications or fluids into the body. I’m sure you’ve seen them on TV, bags of fluid that hang on a pole and the tube goes into the arm via a needle. An IV is not a test.
