what is I.V. in a hospital?

What does "I.V." stand for in a hospital setting, and how is it used in patient care?

It usually means IntraVenous

intravenous is a way of giving medicine or fluid – it means into the vein

IV can also refer to the little tube we put into a patient so we can take blood and then give intravenous medicine. It usually comes on a needle so it can get through the skin – once it is in the vein, the needle comes out and the little tube gets a plug put on the end and stuck down with a dressing and then we can give medicines or fluid through it.

I.V. stands for Intra Venous, which means ‘into the vein’. It is a needle attached to plastic tubing and a bag of fluid. The needle is inserted into a vein in the arm or back of the hand, and it allows the fluid to slowly drip into the body. It is used for re-hydration and a way to deliver certain medicines into the body.

I.V.- Intravenous. its a needle that’s inserted to the patient throw the hand and sometimes on the upper arm(elbow area). it provides the patient with the fluids as for sodium chloride.. its a harmless liquid that is give in throw the IV . as well Dr or nurses can inject meds to the patient in the IV that way the patient doesn’t’ have to get poke so many times or take the meds by mouth… ?

it stands for intra-venous, meaning to put something in a vein. Fluids are fed through a needle into a vein in your body (usually in your arm or hand). The type of fluid can be saline solution, blood, antibiotics or a glucose mixture.
