https://shorturl.im/axarAYes Visa electron will always check your account to make sure there is oney there before authorising the transaction. Visa debit will have house limits with many retailers and not check your account balance before authorising the transaction. So you could spend more money than you have in the account or on an overdraft facility. Be careful, your bank will charge you if you abuse it, around £30 each time you spend without money being in the account!... Show More

most of the above is true. Most companies are phasing out swith and solo now for some reason and these cards are to be obsolete.Neither the electron or the visa debit are ‘credit cards,’ they both come out of your current account. With the visa electron you can use it where-ever anyone accepts it, this is becoming more wide spread, and a lot of high street shops/supermarkets do accept it now. you can withdraw money from nearly all atms, dont think its very accepted abroad though. With visa electron, you cant go overdrawn on your account so you can only spend what youve got and it is not a cheque gaurantee card. These cards are given out more freely as they have less potential risk to the issuer. The person who said they are not emossed is true, but basically this just means you cant put it in one of thise machines that prints on a cheque but as it is not a guarantee card its irrelevant anyway. It has chip and pin for safety. The visa Debit basically does all the above however it is more widely accepted especially over the internet and abroad. It is more flexible and you can go over drawn if you have that facility in place with your bank, it is generally a cheque gaurantee card, again if you have that facility with you account. It is embossed. You are less likely to get a visa debit card if you have a poor credit history .... Show More

Visa Electron is a wipe card only. The numbers are not embossed on the card and the card has to be present to work. They are very commonly used for fraud.Vida Debit is a proper debit card which you can use for internet and telephone transactions as well as in person. The numbers are embossed on them. This is the alternative that some banks offer instead of switch. Both of which you can use in a cash macxhine... Show More
