What is the oxidation number of FeSO4 (Iron (II) Sulfate)?

5 Answers

Fe=+2S=+6O=-2The Iron(II) tell you Fe is +2, O is always -2 except in peroxides and if O is -2 and there’s 4 of them, that’s a total of -8 and Fe is +2 so -8+2=-6 but since there’s no charge on the molecule, S must be +6 to cancel out the -6 charge.... Show More
+2 because the ion so4^2-, Sulphur has +6and oxygen has – 2 so you get fe as +2... Show More
