Billy Fox was not convicted of murdering his girlfriend’s son, Cameron Herring. Fox accepted a plea deal in which he pleaded “no contest” and was sentenced to 10 years of probation. After 10 years, the “no contest” plea will be expunged from his record.
Fox and Cassie Herring began living together shortly after Cassie gave birth to Cameron. On October 11, 2001, Fox claims that his son James tripped over his shoelaces and fell on 7-month-old Cameron, causing the infant to strike his head on the tile floor. Two days later, he died.
Fox and medical experts attribute Cameron’s death to complications from the head injury. Prosecutors charged Fox with murdering the child, suspecting that he had become violent with the infant and caused the death.
