What year did segregation actually end in the United States?
I am unclear about the year when segregation was officially outlawed in the United States. Was it formally abolished, or did it simply come to an end? Could you provide some clarity on this topic?

Public segregation officially ended in 1964 with the Civil Rights Act. The first steps to end segregation however took part during Brown v. Board (1954) when it banned segregation in public schools. However, even today Social Segregation and Private segregation still exist. ex: Chinatown; Catholic Private Schools.

I am confused on the year that segregation was outlawed in the United States. Was it outlawed or did it just end?
The Civil Rights Act of ’64 ended segregation at state and federal levels. However, segregation technically still occurs though now it is more personal choice than something enforced by law.
Segregation has never really ended. But offically I suppose the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965 is the most recent constitutional acts.
officially ended with Johnson and passage of the civil rights act…..slow process and progress, beginning with Lincoln writing emancipation proclamation (no legal effect, just a statement of ideals and call to arms), then constitutional amendment abolishing slavery, then 1954 supeme court ruling brown vs board of education ending “separate but equal”
