InfernoThe Divine Comedy consists of 14,233 lines, divided into three cantiche (canticles): Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. These represent Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. Each contains 33 cantos. However, there is an initial canto which serves as an introduction to the poem, and is generally assumed to belong to "Inferno." This brings the total number of cantos to 100.

InfernoExplanation:The Divine Comedy is the most famous work of author Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), an Italian poet, prose writer and political thinker. The Divine Comedy imagines Dante's journey to Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. These experiences are described in three canticles. There are 33 cantos in each canticle, plus an additional canto in Inferno that serves as an introduction.
