Why are pickles still put in glass jars instead of plastic jars??
Why are pickles still packaged in glass jars instead of plastic containers? I noticed that ketchup transitioned from glass to plastic over 20 years ago. What factors influence the choice of packaging for pickles, and why hasn’t there been a similar shift for them?

Several manufacturing processes use live steam to pasteurize the product and/or displace the air in the pickle package. It’s possible to package in plastic, I’ve seen pickles in plastic pouches. I probably adds another step to the manufacturing process (such as irradiation to kill bacteria).
