any diabetics ever have an a1c of over 10?
Have any diabetics experienced an A1C level exceeding 10? If so, what challenges did you face, and how did you manage your condition?

No, the highest that mine ever went to without any major problems was around 8.0
Here is an A1C chart that I found in some of my diabetes resources and will share it with you:
A1c percent plasma glucose
6.0=135
7.0=170
8.0=205
9.0=240
10.0=275
11.0=310
12.0=345
13.0=380
14.0=415
***any level over 7%, is cause for concern, the ADA recommends a level of 7% or lower. I know if I can get mine down to 6.2 you can too.
Hope this helps you.

I am what is called a brittle diabetic. About a year ago, my level was at 13, it is now down to 10. It is pretty scary! My doctor says that I should be closer to 6 or 7. I had a little sister pass away three years ago tomorrow, from diabetic related illness. She was only 22, but was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 3. I hope that I make it longer than twenty years. I was just diagnosed about 4 and a half years ago.

Diabetes can be “reversed” or go into “remission”. I believe that what that is is decreasing the need to take medications. A person who has diabetes will always have it… but there are cases where a type 2 can either reduce medications or even eliminate them… but will still need to watch diet, get plenty of exercise and keep their weight down. This is called management and control. However, that does not mean that there will never be one. Research has taken huge advances and the more scientists learn about it, the higher likelihood that a cure might come about someday.
While I did recently read an article that stated gastric lap band or gastric bypass MAY be a potential cure, more research is needed and even if this one day is a cure, it would only be effective on type 2s who are obese since neither of those procedures are performed on people who are of normal weight or body mass. Stem cell transplants are still highly controversial and most likely, have a long way to go before it is approved as a diabetes cure by the FDA. Since the vast majority of diabetics are type 2 (roughly 90%), those of us who are type 1 seem to get lost in the shuffle. EMT type 1 for more years than I care to remember, use a pump. Let me add that when I mean diabetes can be controlled and managed without medication but with diet, exercise and weight control, I’m referring to type 2. This is not an option for type 1s, who must take insulin, either by injections or a pump, to survive.
At the age of 57 my HbA1C was 12.1 then 6.3 and pretty much mid 5s since. My initial finger prick test could not be read by my meter, the meter erred out, which I have been told meant it was over 600. Now I average 115 in the morning and mid 80 in the evening. I will be 59 next month.
I have been extremely lucky, but took my disciplined diabetic life style to heart. It’s not difficult. I just eat wiser, better and have a daily exercise routine.
Best Wishes.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren’t necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/dwJzV
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I’ve been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.
Mine has been in the high 13’s. When I was a teenager I didn’t take very good care of my diabetes. Now I’m 25 and my kidneys are not working very well because of the years of not doing what I needed to.
Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes. And get this – it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you’ve heard in the past.
