Best supermoto for beginner?
I'm interested in getting into street biking, but I'm uncertain about which bike to choose. I believe a supermoto could be a suitable option since I have some experience with dirt bikes, but I'm not quite ready for a supersport motorcycle. Would a supermoto be a good choice for a beginner, and could it be a bike I might keep for a while? Additionally, which specific supermoto models would you recommend? Thank you! 🙂

If your end goal is to get on a super sport rocket, then no, a supermoto isn’t a good suggestion in my opinion.
The reason is because dirt doesn’t translate to street. Sure the super moto might be able to help you understand low end torque and a small amount of the power, but it won’t teach you how to use that power on pavement in traffic. They are very different.
So your first step is to figure out what you want. Do you want a super moto? or do you want a progression bike to get you into super sport bikes. If you want to get into super moto, then yes, I agree with Chris and go the 450 model series.
If you want to get into the racing bike world. (GSXR-6R, ZX-6R, R6, CBR600RR, and up) then I would go get a 250cc standard sport or a 650cc standard sport, depending on your experience. Riding a few times on a dirt bike basically means you have no experience. Don’t lie to yourself, it isn’t worth it. If you have been riding dirt for years? Ok, you have experience. Only been on dirt a few times? Get the 250cc. Been on dirt for years? Get a 650cc. Either way, you are looking at the vtwin series.
They are a lot more forgiving, they look like sport bikes, and they are still a blast to drive. Many complaints about the 250cc are out there due to their lower power (which is why it is a beginner bike), but they are so friggin nimble they are still a blast to ride on. The 650cc rides just like the 250cc does, but has more power.
Once you can successfully ride 650cc vtwins? Then look into the supers. Hell, you may not even want a super. Try riding on one for 50+ miles, your back hurts. Unless you race, the only purpose to get a super sport is to show it off. You can’t ride distance with that aggressive of a stance without back issues, so the only other option is short in town travel which is usually around bar hopping (lol bad idea on a motorcycle) or showing off to your friends. I would say the Ninja 1000 would be a better ride than a 600+ super. More power, more comfortable stance. More utility. Anyways, enough of my opinions.
I love me a good ‘tard. anyone is fine pick a size that you can handle. if cost is an issue for a beginner, street tires on an Enduro is a cost effective way to get your foot in the door
