- A new route to the East Explanation:Cabot dedicated his life to Commerce, especially between Europe and the Middle East, in spices, silk, metals and slaves. After having economic problems, he goes to the Kingdom of Spain, and asks the Kings of Castile for help to navigate the new world, they do not help him, and Cabot, again asks the Portuguese Crown for help and is rejected again.He obtains the necessary help from the British Crown and embarks on his trip, with the aim of discovering new routes and at the end of his trip he discovers North America.

Unlike the Spanish conquistadors of the same period, who sought after gold or other treasures, John Cabot heard that there was an abundance of brazilwood (a type of tree which, when processed, produced a wonderful red dye) on a legendary island known as Hy-Brazil.Hope that helped! =)
