Can I redye my hair the day after dying it?

Hi, I dyed my naturally brown hair a darker shade yesterday, but I'm not satisfied with the result—it appears to have a redder tint than what was shown on the packaging. Can I safely redye it so soon after the initial application? If I use the same dye again, will it darken the color further, or should I consider selecting a darker shade altogether? Thank you, Laura.

I once dyed my hair everyday for week when trying to get the black out. Haha.

It is not recommended to do, but it should be okay to do. The only bad thing that could happen is it will dry out your hair. Nothing that can’t be fixed..

Just purchase some leave in conditioner to use so your hair doesn’t dry out and it may be good to get your hair trimmed sometime soon after. 🙂

You should probably get a darker shade if you don’t like the red. The same thing happens to me. It’s hard to get all of the red out unless it’s really dark. :/

Good luck!

Can I redye my hair the day after dying it?

Hi,

I dyed my naturally brown hair a darker shade yesterday and don’t like the colour – it looks a little redder than the picture on the packet. Can I redye it again so soon after dying it? If I used a packet of the same dye again do you think it would go darker, or should I choose a darker…

If the red is darker than what you desired, I would get a clarifying shampoo and wash multiple times. This will lighten up the color.

If the shade of red is lighter than you desired, being so soon after coloring, your hair shafts will still “open” and using a temporary 28 day rinse would be the healthiest for your hair and will coat it the hair shafts and close them more. Just clip a little clump of hair out and leave it on for 10 minutes and view the results. If it’s still not dark enough, allow it to sit a little longer. I can’t see your hair, but I did this before and my hair was fire-engine red. I used a brownish-red to tone it down.

if you want it to be like a broom all nasty and dry and unhealthy go for it but i wouldnt do it. i dye my hair every 3-4 months and i dyed it black one time to cover up some highlights i had gotten b/c they were so light and my hair was a disaster. oh did i mention that 2 weeks after i died my hair black i re-dyed it back to brown. yeah my hair wsa really bad the worstes thing i could of done is dye my hair more than once in one 2 weeks. you should wait at least 2 more weeks and apply a deep conditioner and leave it in for about 2 hours adn use the blowdryer with it(hotness helps) and and then dye your the next day

You can if you want, but you run a risk of frying your hair. And for some people the second dye wont take so soon. If you do choose to, then I would definitely use a deep conditioner right after.

coloring your hair is fine the next day but if you are going lighter you can not color over color going from dark to light. You can use a clear shampoo that is CLARIFYING SHAMPOO it will help to lighten / or get some red tones out. my suggestion if this fails would be to just get the mohawk section (top) foil highlighted to brighten it up at the salon.if you want to splurge then do the whole head.

Why not go down to a beauty supply shop and ask the person there what product you might use to darken your hair. google maps, your address then in search nearby put beauty supply to find one. They give free advice and sell good and fair priced products. By seeing the color and conditon and eveness of your hair they can give the right assistance. Good luck!!

It’s not recommended, but you definitely can do it. Buy a darker color also.

yes you can, and if you dye it the same colour it won’t go darker, buy a darker shade.

dying it again wont do any damage, bleaching and colour stripping does though, which you won’t need to do.
