Can you wear shorts when you have your period?

I got my first ever period about 3-4 days ago, so I am new to everything. I was just wondering, can you wear shorts on your period? Most of my shorts are short, and also have the jean material. I wear pads, not tampons since I am extremely uncomfortable with wearing them. Will I be okay with wearing shorts? Like for during my gym class, the summer, etc.? Please help. xxx

For summer, you might want to try to get a little more comfortable with tampons, because you can’t swim with pads, but you can with a tampon. My suggestion would be to not wear white shorts, just because of obvious disasters that could occur, but you should be fine in jean material, nobody will be able to see the pad or anything while you’re running around.During gym class I would wear spanx or spandex under shorts, just to make sure the pad stays in place so you don’t have to worry about it, and it won’t impair your abilities in gym class. 🙂

You can wear shorts when you have your period even with a pad. Many wear tampons, but because you do not feel comfortable wearing them which is perfectly normal and okay, I suggest buying a brand of pads that are particually made for alot of movement and/or sports. Do your quick research on a brand made just for that or a brand that sticks more than well to the lining of the panties. If you are happy with the current brand you use, just have confidence and enjoy the gym class like you aren’t on your period.

Welcome to womenhood!! 🙂 wearing shorts is no different to any other trouser or skirt even on your period. If you have a good pad in (I would recommend heavy winged) then you should be fine but its all about whether you feel comfortable in it. I wouldn’t recommend wearing short shorts until you are used to your periods and you know what they’re like coz until you know how to stop leakage best for you is then you may find you do leak (usually just on knickers) – wear 2 pairs of knickers! It depends on the sport but on your period it might not be the best idea to wear shorts because you’re moving and all that so its harder to control it. (I don’t like them) but tampons can be best for sport and you would need to wear one to swim. You may hear rumours about how tampons break your virginity but they don’t! Once you are used to your period and you know what its like its your choice whether you wear shorts or not but I really don’t see why your period would stop you. Just make sure you feel comfortable wearing them. Good luck

Yes As long as your period doesn’t tend to go off your underwear and leak so wear a good heavy pad whenever your wearing shorts
