Did Cornelius van der Steen actually memorize the Bible?

There is an old tale about him trying to become a Jesuit and being forced to memorize the entire Bible, I can’t find much about it it.

from a person who worked one year in teaching at a Jesuit University … This is the first time I heard such a tale.Could someone memorize the Sermon of the Mount (Matthew 5 to 7)? Sure.Could someone memorize everything in the Bible on the life of Moses? Sure.While many parts could be memorized in their entirety, the Bible is a very long book. I find it difficult to believe that anyone could memorize everything. You might want to contact a Jesuit University and present your question (requesting some evidence if they were to say “yes”)....
